One thing that I’ve often heard brides tell me post-wedding is that they were so busy talking, greeting, and dancing at their weddings, that they forgot to eat. They spent all of this time picking out the perfect food and didn’t even get to enjoy it.

When Jordan came on as my wedding coordinator, this is one thing she circumvented right from the start. Since we weren’t having a seated dinner, she suggested that my groom and I take a little bit of time (just 20 minutes) and have dinner by ourselves during the cocktail hour. It ended up being one of the moments I was most appreciative for during our wedding. We stepped away from our guests and had a quiet dinner in a small room upstairs where we were able to eat the delicious food (amazing mac n’ cheese) and spend a little bit of time reflecting on the tremendous step we had just taken. We laughed, covered my dress in napkins so I wouldn’t spill anything on it, and enjoyed our first meal as husband and wife.
I have to give a shout out to our caterer Masterpiece Events. Not only did they set up the perfect meal, but they provided a server whose sole purpose that evening was to make sure we had everything we needed, an unexpected but much appreciated touch.
Make sure you eat – a little piece of advice that made a big difference.
